A lot of things have taken place since the last time I published a post. Schools, colleges, malls, offices, and almost every shop in every street is now closed. Trains, flights all over the world are canceled. COVID-19, the disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus, has caused a pandemic, majorly affecting countries such as China, Italy, Spain, Iran, France, and the USA. It has now started to pave its way into India as well.
There has been a lot of questions about why this is happening. Whether this is a judgment from God or just a clever move by the elites as a power grab to control the lives of the people. The truth of the matter is, no one knows the answer to that question. But what we do know is that we are going to spend a lot of our time at our homes for now (at the least until March 31st). What I am going to go through in this post are some of the things that you can do as you’re staying at home. At the end of this, I am also going to give you my thoughts about this disease so read till the end. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.
Read the Bible as much as you can
In our normal day-to-day lives we many times fall short of reading the Bible. I am guilty of this as well, as I also procrastinate a lot when it comes to sitting down and reading the Bible. Given the circumstances (where we are pretty much stuck at home), it is a great time to continue where we left on our yearly Bible reading.
And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.Luke 4:3-4 (King James Version)
Recently I also came across a concept called Power Reading where you speedread the Bible and complete the entire 66 books of the Bible in 90 days or so. Since we really don’t know how long this self-quarantine is going to continue this is something that we could complete (maybe just the new testament) by the time everything becomes normal.
Work on the things that you didn’t have time for before
Apart from the work that you do for which you get paid, you must have also saved a considerable amount of time by not having to have to travel for work. This redeemed time can be used productively to work on the things that you wanted to do before.
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.Ephesians 5:16 (King James Version)
Some of the things that you can do are reading books, playing the piano, watching cool documentaries, exercising, writing blog posts (like the one you are reading now),
running a 10K, going to the gym, visiting your friend, etc… I really feel like going for a run right now, but yeah, you gotta do what you gotta do. If not for yourself, at least for the people around you.
Educate yourself about the situation
Another thing that is important at this time is to know what is going on around us. I am not saying that we have to be up to date about all the scientific nuances about the issue (though that is a good thing to know as well). I am talking about the general details of what the issue is, whom all it affects, how to avoid it, and what are the things that the government is doing and how will those actions affect us and the rest of the people.
Having said that, I believe it is also important to educate ourselves by using the right resources. Watching the news the whole day is probably not the best way to get the truth about the matter, as the media usually tries to sensationalize everything in order to increase their viewership. Other sources of information are government/scientific websites, interviews, and talk shows.
What is my take on COVID-19?
To repeat what I said earlier, no one really knows why this is happening, of whether it is a judgment from God or just a man-made thing in a laboratory that got messed up. Either way, it is happening only because God is allowing it to happen. So even though I would have liked to come to you and say that I know exactly what is happening, the answer is I don’t know.
Having said that, one thing that I know for sure is that all things work together for good to them that love God.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.Romans 8:28 (King James Version)
Therefore the ‘why’ really doesn’t matter at this point, cause we know that it’s going to work together for good to those of us who are on the Lord’s side. So the plan of action at this point is for you to sit back, relax, and trust God for what is going to happen.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.Philippians 1:21 (King James Version)
Until next time!
