Here is a verse in the Bible, where God seeks for A man who would stand for the truth, stand for what was right, stand in the gap so that He should not destroy that land, but unfortunately finds none.
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
Ezeikel 22:30 KJV
In the book of Isaiah, we have another scenario where God is looking for someone who would go and speak the harsh truth to the people, let them know that what they are doing is an abomination to the Lord. This time there is a man Isaiah, who says “send me”.
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isaiah 6:8 KJV
Truth is in a demand in this day and age. A lot of people seek the truth, but they don’t seem to find it. The reason is that most people are just too scared to stand for the truth and say it as it is. Although we have Christians more than any other religion in the world, we don’t see many Christians standing for what is right.
Most churches and pastors are non-denominational where they teach a shallow and soft message that doesn’t offend anyone. The question is why? I’ll tell you why. Most people wouldn’t like if you preach an offensive message, cause most people would rather have their ears tickled than hear something that says that they’re wrong.
That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord:
Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
Isaiah 30:9-10 KJV
Due to this truth epidemic, we need people to stand alone for the truth and teach people what God wants them to preach, instead of what man wants them to preach.
No one is standing for the Truth
Yeah, many people across the world do preach what many might find offensive. But the problem is they don’t preach the entire truth. For example, preachers in India do preach that homosexuality is a sin. But they don’t use the words of the Bible where it calls it an abomination(a thing that causes disgust or loathing) and depicts them as animals.
Do you really think Christians in India would be this passive about a law being put up, if there was this kind of preaching in the pulpit? I doubt it.
Not only that, many churches even welcome homosexuals into their services which further desensitizes the repulsion normal people have towards it. Nobody is willing to say what’s wrong with a queer cause nobody really wants to face the persecution.
Truth is a lonely path
Let’s say you do end up standing for the truth. Guess what, nobody is really going to stand with you. And not only will most people not stand with you, but they will also talk bad about you. It’s not that people don’t agree with you. Most people can’t handle persecution so they won’t stand by you, even if they do agree with you.
This should not be a surprise to us, because even Jesus himself led a lonely life. There was a time where many people left him because they thought that his preaching was too radical.
But we don’t see Jesus batting an eye, or toning down his preaching at any place.
Here is what Jesus said:
Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
John 16:32
And guess what, every one of his disciples did leave him at the end.
People will hate you
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
John 15:18
If the world hated Jesus himself, you shouldn’t be shocked when it hates you. The Bible says that the servant is not greater than his master. Since the beginning of mankind, people have always wanted to gain approval from men. We always want to be the cool kid. For that, we are ready to compromise on our values and beliefs to not offend anybody.
But here is the thing, being hated for standing for the truth is a good thing.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Matthew 5:11-12
So what am I saying?
After analyzing all the consequences of standing for the truth, is it still worth the squeeze? Absolutely!! Knowing that our reward is in heaven, we can stand with boldness knowing that God will keep what we do unto him until that day.
If not YOU, WHO??
