Life in the Internet

I don’t know about you, but I spend most of my time on the internet. My education, my recreation, my social networking all depend on the world wide web.

There is a high chance that you are also someone who spends your life in this virtual world. If you do, you might be able to relate to what I am about to say.

Online gaming, watching videos, googling , texting are stuff what keeps our life running everyday. Well maybe not every one of us is playing online games, but a majority of the youth adult population do(aka my audience). There is really nothing wrong in doing these stuff when we clearly have control on what we do. But at times we tend to lose control and let the internet control us.

Being socially isolated

This happens to me a lot at times when I spend too much time texting, instead of talking in-person with actual people. With the rise in popularity of Facebook and WhatsApp, this is prevalent among both the youth and adults. This is worse for introverts like me, who find it difficult to face too much external stimulation that comes when being in crowded places. It seems more comfortable to relax in the couch and chat with a friend, than to go to a party where you don’t know many people.

Not having  a sound mind

As much as I would like to defend and say no, I need to agree that spending a lot of time in the internet does make my mind a little wonky. This is also a cause for depression for some people, thereby causing many unnecessary hitches in life.

People in the internet don’t portray their true self. They hide their mistakes, their sorrows, their hardships(unintentionally), which indirectly makes us believe that we are worthless and stupid. But living a successful life is about taking your butt from the couch and working, and not about complaining about the hardships and obstacles we have in life.

Becoming Unfit

A famous YouTuber and a fitness expert once said:

"The most important part of your game is your game piece!"

I totally agree with that, as it perfectly aligns with what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20(KJV)

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

This is the reason why I decided to have a morning exercise routine as a daily habit, so that I could build my game piece(body) to help me focus on the game(life).

But yeah, life is more than just a game. Isn’t it?
